Does the Women's C.A.R.E. Kit Encourage Abortions

A Difficult Reality Pregnancy Centers Cannot Ignore

The epidemic of at-home chemical abortion has created a difficult reality for pregnancy centers across the country. Every day, hundreds of women are experiencing abortions alone at home, often without clear guidance, support, or medical follow-up.

One method, the Women's C.A.R.E Kit, is designed specifically to provide an exit ramp even as women are choosing to take the pills. We have seen up to a 50% save rate among the most abortion-determined clients using these kits, yet there are still those who believe that the kit somehow encourages abortions. As we continue hearing stories of women receiving the kits and changing their minds, we want to assure those who are still on the fence that these kits are truly supporting life. Still an important question continues to arise:

Does the Women's C.A.R.E. Kit Encourage "Safe" Abortions?

We oppose abortion precisely because we value both mother and child. That commitment does not end once a woman takes the pill. We continue to contend for the baby by encouraging Abortion Pill Reversal, and we show the value of the mother's life by providing this educational tool to point her toward emergency services.

Why the C.A.R.E. Kit Exists

The C.A.R.E. Kit continues to contend for the life of the baby by:

  • Encouraging Abortion Pill Reversal (APR)
  • Warning women about the dangers of chemical abortion
  • Encouraging emergency medical care when necessary
  • Providing educational information during a critical moment

The kit also demonstrates care for the mother by ensuring she is not left alone, uninformed, or unsupported during a dangerous and emotionally overwhelming situation.

The Women's C.A.R.E. Kit Clearly Communicates Risk

The C.A.R.E. Kit does not present abortion as simple or safe. The materials clearly communicate the physical risks and medical dangers associated with chemical abortion.

The brochure handout shown here provides additional educational information regarding warning signs, possible complications, and situations where emergency medical attention may be needed.

Potential risks discussed include:

  • Heavy bleeding lasting 9–16 days
  • Severe cramping
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and headaches
  • Incomplete abortion requiring surgery or antibiotics
  • Infection
  • Ectopic pregnancy, which can be fatal

The Women's C.A.R.E. Kit Makes It Clear There Is a Baby

The materials included in the C.A.R.E. Kit acknowledge the humanity of the child and explain what abortion pills are designed to do.

“Mifepristone blocks progesterone, starving the baby of nutrients.”

The materials also encourage women not to assume survival is impossible and to seek immediate medical help if they change their minds.

Women's C.A.R.E. Kit discourages pill usage

The Women's C.A.R.E. Kit Discourages Pill Usage

The C.A.R.E. Kit encourages women to stop and consider serious questions before taking abortion pills, especially when pills were received online or from unverified sources.

  • Do I trust where these pills came from?
  • Were instructions included?
  • Do I truly know what I am taking?
  • Could I have received something other than abortion pills?

The materials warn women not to guess or proceed carelessly when their health may be at risk.

Women's C.A.R.E. Kit recommends Abortion Pill Reversal

The Women's C.A.R.E. Kit Recommends APR

One of the clearest pro-life components of the C.A.R.E. Kit is its repeated encouragement toward Abortion Pill Reversal (APR).

What should you do? Do NOT take the second abortion pill (Misoprostol, or Cytotec®).

Call the 24/7 Abortion Pill Reversal Hotline Immediately: (877) 558-0333

If you have already taken the first pill, you can reverse the process if desired. Call the Abortion Pill Reversal Hotline at (877) 558-0333 for more information.

If you have already taken the second pill, have your kit ready before the abortion pill begins working.

Providing hope and support in difficult moments

Providing Hope and Support in Difficult Moments

“The Women’s C.A.R.E. Kit ensures that women facing the dark realities of the abortion pill are not left without information or support. By providing clear medical information about what to expect and resources such as abortion pill reversal, the CARE Kit meets women in a moment when many feel alone and overwhelmed — empowering them with knowledge and reminding them that hope and help are still available.”

The Women's C.A.R.E. Kit Is Not for Every Client

The C.A.R.E. Kit is a powerful pro-life tool to help centers answer the needs of clients who are in the final moments of their decision.

It provides multiple off-ramps and strong statements in support of their baby. It also shows value and care for the mother even after she has begun the terrible process of killing her baby.

The educational information may save the life of her baby and it may even save her life as well.

The C.A.R.E. Kit was developed alongside ethicists, lawyers, and medical professionals with clear safeguards and usage guidelines.

When to Use The Women's C.A.R.E. Kit

The C.A.R.E. Kit should be used when:

  • The client has concrete plans to complete the abortion
  • The client already has abortion pills
  • The client has reviewed the instruction booklet
  • The client has signed the Chemical Abortion Checklist

Only then should the kit be provided as an educational and support resource encouraging women not to take the pills and, if necessary, seek Abortion Pill Reversal.

These safety rails have shown us the greatest results. These are women who are set on having the abortion — but the kit gives you one more chance to speak into that decision. One more opportunity to save that life and the pain of that choice.

Where Do We Go From Here?

The C.A.R.E. Kit is intended for centers serving seriously abortion-determined clients — women who may already have abortion pills in hand and believe their decision has already been made.

This is a difficult moment, but it is also an opportunity for truth, compassion, education, and life-affirming support.

The goal is not to encourage abortion.

The goal is to ensure women are not abandoned in one of the darkest moments they may ever experience — and to provide one more opportunity to choose differently.
